MOITZHEIM Joseph
Peter Joseph MOITZHEIM was born in 1868 in Luxembourg-city (n°16 Arsenal-Strasse).
His father’s occupation was Schreiner. Joseph became Bandagist, and in 1892 he took over L. OBERHOFFER’s shop in n° 1 Arsenal-Avenue. He presented himself as Fabrikant chirurgischer Instrumente und klinisch ausgebildeter Bandagist.
In 1893 he married Margaretha WIDEMANN, and he added to his offer of goods a range of Schneidende Stahlwaren.
In 1899 he was awarded the title of Hoflieferant.
He successively held his shop in n°18 (1900?), n°45 (1905), and finally n° 26 Gross-Strasse (1930?).
In 1910 Joseph registered a commercial company in his own name for “fabricant d’instruments de chirurgie, coutellerie”.
In 1933 Joseph transferred his business to his son Nicolas MOITZHEIM-TOUSSAINT (b. 1895). Nicolas MOITZHEIM moved the shop to n° 8 Philipp-Strassse. He probably was a qualified optician.
Joseph MOITZHEIM (industriel) died in 1950 in Luxembourg-city.
